6. Some Random Thoughts

So even though I had to drag myself out of bed this morning and force myself every step of the way into the office, it turned out to be a good day. I got a ton of work done and dont feel as behind the 8 ball as I did yesterday.

Terra is in HI right now and I will confess I am VERY jealous! But I am glad she could go and get some sun. At least one of should be able to.

I am working on trying to find a way to make it out to the east coast for the KOFL ABM. While I am not actively participating with the KOFL anymore, it would be very nice to get out of the rain and spend a few days with friends. There are a few factors that are making getting out there difficult, but am hopeful I can put something together. I think I just need to get out of the rain.

Terra and I talked about going to Rome this year. I am ALL for a trip of some kind. I am hoping we can maybe put something on paper when she gets back.

Tonight I am planning on going home and working out, and then watching Burn Notice. With season three back up and running I am enjoying the show once again!

So there just a few thought before I head home.

5. Christmas 2009

As much as Terra and I had concerns about Christmas this year it turned out to be a very nice holiday. I have always enjoyed Christmas. It is my second favorite holiday (Halloween being the first), and come Christmas Eve I always start to feel like a kid again. This year I let my excitement get the better of me and started wanting to open presents on Christmas Eve. Terra was very patient with me and asked that we wait till Christmas. So at 6:00AM I was wide awake and she again very patiently asked me to go back to sleep.

Once we got up we passed presents back and forth which was new for me. In my family we have generally just dived in and wrapping paper flew everywhere. It was only AFTER everything was opened that we saw what everyone else got. Even though this was different for me I liked passing gifts back and forth.

I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get Terra anything that was a huge surprise. She knew about most of her gifts for one reason or another. This doesn't mean she didn't like what I got her, but I do like surprising her, and I didn't feel I got to do that this year.

One funny thing that happened was over breakfast. My family has a tradition that we hang a wreath over the table and hang small but nice gifts from the wreath. I have always liked this tradition and asked if we could continue this tradition in our own home. Terra said we could and when the time came to open the wreath gifts we discovered that neither one of us had picked a good present for the other and both gifts needed to be exchanged. But we both laughed about it and had fun going to the store.

Over all Christmas was a good holiday this year and I am looking forward to many more to come.

3. The Difference Between Men and Women

So many of you might have noticed on Face-book today that many of your female friends seemed to be randomly posting colors in their status updates. I saw many colors today including pink, red, plain old boring white, black, purple and gold, etc. What all the guys didn't know is someone started an email chain asking women to post the color of their bra in order to raise awareness for breast cancer.

While I support any and all efforts to cure breast cancer, this little idea of awareness got me thinking about how big the differences between Men and Women are. What would people say if men on face-book starting posting the type, and or color of their underwear in order to promote prostate cancer awareness? What about the t-shirts and car magnets that say save the Ta Ta's. What if men were to wear similar shirts or pass out magnets that said Save the penis?

Somehow I am thinking that this would be considered socially wrong. So my question is why is it ok for women to do such things and men cant? Am I wrong in my assumption? Could men do things like this and it be considered socially acceptable? If it is not socially acceptable then why?

1. 2010 Goals

Well 2010 is here, and I am left wondering where 2009 went. While I am happy to see 2009 die I am grateful for the experiences I had in 2009, and plan on taking the lessons of 2009 and using them to make 2010 the best year of my life to date. Now I know this sounds like a lot of "New Years Resolution BS", but it really is not. I have some very specific ideas for what I want 2010 to look like and I have already started working on making those ideas a reality. Here are a few of the things I am working to accomplish in 2010.

1. My number one goal is to work on bettering my relationship with my wife. As some of you know 2009 was a very hard year for us. Specifically 2009 was a hard year on her due to many poor decisions on my part. So my hope is to make 2010 the best year of our marriage so far. She has put a great deal of trust in me and I dont want that trust to be misplaced.

2. I have been working on writing a book for about a year now, and I have decided that I will finish the book in 2010. The story of this book has been in my head for several years now. I can remember as a child acting out some of the scenes from this story in my head when I would play with my toys. Over the years the story became more detailed and about a year ago I started putting several parts of it on paper. The story is science fiction and while I may or may not be able to publish it professionally I will at least have a finished copy by this time next year. Once I finish the book I will be trying to publish it, but I dont know if I will self publish or publish professionally.

3. Since I plan on finishing my book I know that I will need to practice my writing. So I have made a goal to do a bare minimum of 200 blog posts this year. This post being number one. I have also been asked to be a writer on blog called The Brain Bomb. While this blog is currently in production and not ready for viewers I will hold off on posting a link, but when the site is up and running I will.

4. This may seem like a small goal, but a couple years ago I started making my own chain mail shirt. While I am not doing live steel fighting anymore I would like to finish this project. What I do with the shirt after I am done is up in the air, but I do want to finish it.

5. I want to find at least 100 Geocaches by the end for the year.

6. I plan on joining a beginners hockey team once I gather up all the gear I need. The local ice rink sells everything I will need, but I plan on getting a list a hitting a play it again sports or ebay.

I am looking forward to 2010, it looks like its going to be a great year.
